How long: To be straight about it: the 2014 Law on Entry, Exit and Management of Foreigners sets no processing time for a tourist visa. The only two periods in the law are that an extension must be filed before the stay expires (Art. 27), with the length of each extension left to separate regulations, and that accommodation operators must report a foreign guest within twenty-four hours (Art. 32) — which is their duty, not your processing deadline. So follow whatever the embassy or checkpoint handling your case publishes; nothing is invented here.

Cost: This law sets no visa fee. We also checked Art. 50 of the 2021 fees decree, the entry-exit and foreigner-management section: there is no line reading "visa", only entries for entry-exit declarations, passports and laissez-passer — and the same item appears twice with different amounts, 8,000 and 10,000 kip, where the source table’s two columns collapsed into two rows; a line for servicing foreign vehicles entering has no amount at all in our copy.
