Article 1
Purpose. This Decision stipulates the principles and regulations concerning the management, supervision, inspection, custody, use, transportation, and exchange of banknotes printed and issued by the Bank of the Lao PDR and put into circulation, in order to make them effective, aiming to enhance the value and stability of the national currency and contribute to the national economic and social development.

Banknotes in circulation refer to the Kip currency printed and issued by the Bank of the Lao People's Democratic Republic for use by society within the territory of Laos.
