Summary

This agreement, issued by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Laos, establishes principles, regulations, and measures for the management, supervision, operation, registration, and use of the national top-level domain of the Lao PDR and other domains providing services within the country, covering registration and use of Lao and international domains, licensing of registrars, rights and obligations of parties, fees, prohibited acts, dispute resolution, management supervision, and rewards and penalties.

Articles

Article 1

Purpose. This Agreement stipulates the principles, regulations, and measures concerning the management, supervision, business operations, registration, and use of the highest-level national internet domain name of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and other domain names providing services within the territory of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, aiming for convenience, speed, fairness, safety, and high quality, with the objective of promoting the application of domain names in providing services through electronic means, making them convenient and widespread, and contributing to the cause of defending and building the nation.

Article 2

Domain Name. A domain name is a name used to identify an Internet address (IP) of a server host in the Internet system, separated by dots "." according to hierarchy for ease of memory. Domain name management refers to the tracking, inspection, approval of service provision and use of domain names.
