To: Heads of Offices, Directors of Departments, Management Committees of Central, Provincial, and District Hospitals, Provincial/Vientiane Capital Health Departments, District/Municipal Health Offices, and State and Private Health Service Establishments Nationwide. Subject: On the Cessation of Import, Production, Distribution, Provision, and Use of Mercury-Containing Products in the State and Private Health Sector Nationwide. Pursuant to the Law on Hygiene, Disease Prevention and Health Promotion No. 08/NA (December 21, 2011); Pursuant to the Minamata Convention on Mercury approved on September 12, 2017. To implement and enforce the content of Article 19 of the Law on Hygiene, Disease Prevention and Health Promotion regarding hygiene in health service establishments, and the Minamata Convention on Mercury of September 12, 2017, to protect human health and the environment from anthropogenic emissions and releases of mercury and mercury compounds, and to effectively achieve the cessation of import, production, distribution, provision, and use of mercury-containing products in the national health sector by the end of 2020, the Minister issues this order and guidance.
