Articles

Article 1

Purpose. This Agreement stipulates principles, regulations, and measures concerning the establishment, management, monitoring, and inspection of zoos, wildlife farms, wildlife rehabilitation and breeding centers, and botanical gardens, to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and international conventions to which the Lao PDR is a party. It aims to encourage and support breeding, farming, tourism, and utilization without causing impacts on nature, the environment, and habitats, to contribute to improving the living standards of people of all ethnic groups, and to become a potential for the country's socio-economic development.

Article 2

Establishment of Zoos. Establishment of zoos refers to the operation of wildlife breeding and propagation businesses for the purposes of tourism, animal performances, and cultural exchange, aiming to disseminate and cultivate awareness, especially among the public and youth, of the protection and conservation of wildlife in nature.

Establishment of wildlife breeding farms and wild plant gardens. The establishment of wildlife breeding farms and wild plant gardens refers to conducting business related to the breeding, cultivation, and propagation of wild animals and plants, to supply food and daily consumption needs for society, and as goods for sale domestically and internationally.
