Article 1

Article 1 Purpose
This Law prescribes principles, regulations, and measures regarding the management, supervision, and inspection of radiation safety work, in order to ensure that such work is carried out correctly in accordance with technical standards, guarantee radiation safety, aim to prevent, limit, and reduce impacts on the life and health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment, be able to align with regional and international standards, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

Article 2

Article 2 Radiation Safety
Radiation refers to energy emitted from atoms or atomic nuclei in the form of waves or rays, with the atomic nucleus being the source of radiation, primarily including alpha rays (α), beta rays (β), gamma rays (γ), and X-rays.
Radiation safety refers to the adoption of measures to prevent, limit, and reduce dangerous risks in order to address adverse and severe impacts on the life and health of humans, animals, and plants, as well as on the environment, caused by the spread of radioactive substances and nuclear accidents.

Article 3

Article 3 Interpretation of Terms
The terms used in this Law shall have the following meanings:
1. Radioactivity refers to rays emitted from atoms with unstable nuclear structures, producing new elements, which diffuse alpha rays, beta rays, gamma rays, and X-rays;
2. Radioactive substances refer to a category of substances whose internal atomic structures are unstable and undergo decay, continuously emitting radioactivity from themselves;
3. Radiation generator refers to X-ray machines, product irradiation machines, Cobalt-60 machines, machines, or other equipment that emit rays when obtaining energy;
4. Radioactive waste refers to items contaminated with radioactive substances or containing radioactive components that can no longer be used and must be disposed of;
5. Radiation protection refers to taking measures to reduce existing radiation risks in order to protect persons engaged in radiation work and other persons;
6. Nucleus (atomic nucleus) refers to the center of an atom, containing neutrons and protons;
7. Nuclear accident refers to an incident caused by equipment failure or human actions, resulting in radioactive substances causing an accident.
