Articles
Article 1
Purpose. This Decree stipulates holidays as a basis for unified organization and implementation, applicable nationwide to the Party, state organs, the Lao Front for National Construction, the Veterans' Federation, central and local mass organizations, representative offices of the Lao People's Democratic Republic abroad, international organizations, social organizations, state enterprises, and Lao and foreign private enterprises in Laos.
Article 2
Holidays. Holidays refer to days on which government officials, military personnel, police, and workers cease to perform official duties, including weekly rest days, statutory holidays, and compensatory holidays.
Article 3
Interpretation of Terms. The terms used in this Decree shall have the following meanings: 1. Weekly rest days refer to Saturday and Sunday; 2. Public holidays refer to days approved by the government on which the performance of work duties is suspended; 3. Compensatory holidays refer to rest days granted to compensate for public holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday.
