Article 1

Article 1 (Amended) Purpose
This Law stipulates principles, regulations, and measures concerning the organization, activities, management, and supervision of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, in order to ensure that the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union effectively fulfills its duties, rights, and obligations, and to enhance the responsibility of the State, society, and families for the consolidation and construction of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, aiming to make the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union a mass organization that is politically steadfast and organizationally strong, capable of uniting and educating youth, adolescents, and children to become excellent successors to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the State, contributing to the defense, construction, and development of the country.

Article 2

Article 2 (Amended) The Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union
The Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union is one of the mass organizations within the political system of the people's democratic regime with the Lao People's Revolutionary Party as its core, and is an organization of active and progressive Lao youth who have been tempered and trained through mass movements.
The abbreviated name of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union is written as: "ຄຊປປລ" (Lao Youth Union).

Article 3

Article 3 (Amendment) Interpretation of Terms
The terms used in this Law shall have the following meanings:
1. The Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union refers to the youth leadership body elected by the Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union;
2. The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union refers to the head of the Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union;
3. The Central Secretariat of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union refers to the Standing Committee of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union;
4. The Standing Committee of the Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union refers to the Standing Committee of the Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union at the district, provincial, ministerial, and agency levels, abbreviated as the Standing Committee of the LPRYU Executive Committee;
5. Youth refers to persons aged between fifteen and thirty-five years;
6. Children (pre-adolescent) refers to Lao children of all ethnic groups aged between nine and fourteen years;
7. Young Pioneers (Pioneer members) refers to Lao children of all ethnic groups who are members of the youth organization;
8. Children (younger) refers to Lao children aged between six and eight years;
9. Junior Pioneers (Junior Pioneer members) refers to Lao children of all ethnic groups who are members of the junior organization;
10. The Lao National Youth Federation refers to a broad social organization of Lao youth, regardless of ethnicity, socio-economic status, educational level, occupation, profession, or religion.
