Article 1
Purpose. This Regulation stipulates basic measures for the management and protection of forest tree seed sources, aiming to develop and use forest tree seeds of excellent quality and sustainability.
Article 2
Definition of terms. 1. Forest tree improved variety base: refers to a designated area of forest land used to provide improved varieties of forest trees. 2. Mother tree: refers to a tree that has been selected and registered for the purpose of collecting seeds or various parts for propagation. 3. Forest tree seeds: refer to seeds taken from mother trees and processed through procedures to obtain high-quality forest tree seeds. 4. (Propagation) parts: refer to the roots, sprouts, bark, branches, buds, shoots, flowers, and leaves of mother trees.
Article 3
Scope Delineation. Forest tree improved variety bases may be established within protection forests, reserved forests (shelter forests), and production forests. The area of forest tree improved variety bases in natural forests must be 25 hectares or more, except for rare and endangered tree species; in planted forests (plantation forests), the area should be 1 hectare or more.
