Article 1
Purpose. This agreement is formulated to serve as a tool for implementing the Good Agricultural Practice standards concerning product quality, particularly for vegetable cultivation and fruit tree cultivation; to enhance the added value of vegetable and fruit products; and to provide food products with quality that are demanded by domestic and international markets.
Article 2
Good Agricultural Practice Standards for Product Quality. The Good Agricultural Practice Standards for Product Quality are developed based on the ASEAN Good Agricultural Practice Standards, covering the requirements that producers and operators must comply with to obtain products of quality that meet market demand.
Article 3
Definition of Terms. The terms used in this agreement have the following meanings: 1. Standard: refers to specifications for specific characteristics of products, goods, services, processes, environments, and other quality-related matters; 2. Good Agricultural Practices (GAP): refers to the use of appropriate methods to prevent or mitigate the risk of hazards that may occur during production, harvesting, and post-harvest processes; 3. Infrastructure: refers to construction sites, buildings, premises for production, storage, processing, and packaging of products; 4. Chemicals: refers to fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, hormones, surface coating agents, and soil improvement minerals; 5. Other Chemicals: refers to fuel oil, lubricating oil, and other substances; 6. Soil Nutrients: refers to various minerals such as iron, manganese, boron (B), humus; 7. Microorganisms: refers to living things invisible to the naked eye, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi; 8. Biological Agents: refers to beneficial living microorganisms derived from viruses, bacteria, and fungi; 9. Cleaning/Washing: refers to the removal of soil, dirt, and foreign matter from products, primary processing areas, and product storage areas through rinsing, blowing, wiping, dusting, sweeping, or scrubbing; 10. Competent Authority: refers to a state or private organization recognized as having the authority to establish or inspect the implementation of standards, rules, and policies. For example: food regulations are the responsibility of the Department of Food and Drugs, the Department of Agriculture; 11. Plant Varieties: refers to seeds or plant parts used for planting; 12. Organic Materials: refers to materials derived from plants, animals, and various minerals, not processed through synthetic processes; 13. Foreign Matters: refers to objects that should not be mixed into the product or should not be present around the product, which may affect product safety or quality, for example: glass, metal, wood, stones, soil, leaves, plastic sheets or bags, and weed seeds; 14. Product Name: refers to the commercial name of the product; 15. User: refers to the person actually responsible for applying fertilizers, pesticides, and chemicals; 16. Pathogen Transmission Vectors: refers to various organisms, particularly humans, animals, and organisms that act as intermediaries for transmitting pathogens to products.
