Article 1
Purpose. This Agreement stipulates the fundamental principles regarding the implementation of sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as the management and organization of the implementation of the aforementioned principles, in order to safeguard the health and safety of humans, animals, and plants within the territory of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, protecting them from potential harm and dangers that may arise from the domestic and international circulation of agricultural and forestry product commodities; and aims to improve relevant domestic measures to align them with the treaties to which the Lao People’s Democratic Republic is a party, avoiding the creation of unnecessary barriers to trade.
