Agreement on Forms and Specifications of Wood Products

Article 1

Purpose and Objectives. This Agreement aims to define the definition, form, and specifications of wood products produced by compliant timber processing factories, with the following objectives: — To establish awareness and understanding of wood products within the Lao People's Democratic Republic, ensuring uniformity nationwide; — To serve the adjustment of timber processing industrial enterprises into compliant and modern factories; — To create added value for wood products that have undergone processing procedures in industrial or handicraft forms, in order to increasingly promote exports; — To manage, encourage, and promote the use of wood, a raw material of natural origin with limited sources, to generate maximum benefit, and to protect the environment and biodiversity, ensuring safety and sustainability.
