Articles
Article 1
Purpose. This Agreement aims to regulate the procedures for applying for permits to import and sell automobiles in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. This Agreement is not intended to restrict the quantity or value of imports, but rather for the purpose of collecting statistical data on automobile imports through an automatic import licensing system.
Article 2
Definition of terms. In this Agreement, “motor vehicle” refers to all types of land transport vehicles driven by engines, as listed under the following tariff headings in the Customs Tariff of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic: 8704.28, 8704.9029, 8701.90, 8702, 8703, 8704, 8705, and 8711, but excluding three-wheeled light trucks (tariff heading 8704.31.17).
Article 3
Scope of Application. This Agreement applies to the import and sale of automobiles within the territory of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
