Summary

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment issues this Agreement to approve and promulgate (revised version) the list of investment projects and various business activities requiring Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) or Social and Environmental Impact Assessment (ESIA), accompanied by a grouping table of project types and scales divided into five sectors: energy, agriculture and forestry, processing industry, infrastructure and services, and mining. Articles

Article 1

Promulgate and issue (revised version) the list of investment projects or types of business activities required to conduct a preliminary study of environmental impacts, or an assessment of social and natural environmental impacts.

Article 2

All relevant individuals, legal entities, and various organizations within the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, whether public or private, domestic or foreign, shall pay attention to and strictly and effectively implement this Agreement.

Article 3

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, through its Department of Social and Environmental Impact Assessment, is designated as the lead coordinating unit, working in conjunction with relevant agencies, to be responsible for organizing the implementation of this Agreement and ensuring its effectiveness.
