Summary
This Law prescribes the status, duties, rights, obligations, responsibilities, international cooperation, standards, ranks, military grades, and positions of officers of the Lao People's Army, as well as the State's management of officers, policies, prohibitions, commendations, and disciplinary enforcement. Officers are personnel of the Party and the State, holding ranks from sub-lieutenant to general, wearing prescribed insignia and uniforms, with primary duties to command, lead, direct, and build the armed forces in order to safeguard independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Article 1
第一条 宗旨
老挝人民军军官法规定军官的地位、职责、权利、义务、责任、义务、国际合作、标准、级别、军衔和职务；规定国家对军官的管理、政策、禁止事项、表彰及纪律执行，以使我军军官在政治和思想上坚定，在组织上坚强，纪律严明，作风现代化，并完成其光荣使命。

老挝人民军军官是老挝人民民主共和国党和国家的工作人员，具有从尉官至将军的军衔，佩带由中央政府规定的军衔标志、军衔等级、兵种及军种标志和专用制服。

第三条 军官的驻地与职责
军官是老挝人民军的主要力量。
军官的职责是指挥、领导、统率并建设部队，进行教育培养、训练学习、备战、作战、管理、后勤保障以及执行其他任务，以维护独立、主权、领土完整和国家建设发展。
