Article 2 Industrial Design
Industrial design means the form or shape of a product created, consisting of shape, pattern, lines, colors and others.

Article 2 Definition of Terms
The terms used in this Agreement have the following meanings:
1. “Applicant” means a natural person, legal entity or organization that has filed an application for registration of an industrial design, opposition, renewal, change of name and/or address, license, assignment, amendment, revocation, cancellation and other proposals relating to an industrial design, or the successor in interest of such person;
2. “Application” means the document of filing an application for registration of an industrial design, opposition, renewal, change of name and/or address, license, assignment, amendment, revocation, cancellation and other proposals relating to an industrial design;
3. “Third party proposing opposition” means the right holder or owner of the right, or a natural person, legal entity or organization that is the owner of the right, who has proposed an opposition to an application for registration of an industrial design;
4. “Opposition” means the filing of a proposal for opposition by a third party against an application for registration of an industrial design that has been published in the Official Gazette on Intellectual Property Registration;
5. “Third party filing a proposal for revocation or cancellation” means the right holder or owner of the right, a third party who is the owner of the right, who files an application for revocation or cancellation of the registration of an industrial design;
6. “Revocation” means the filing of an application for revocation of the registration of an industrial design in part or in whole by the revocation applicant;
7. “Cancellation” means the filing of an application by the cancellation applicant against the entire registration of an industrial design;
8. “Classification” means the international classification of types of industrial designs according to the Locarno Classification for the registration of industrial designs;
9. “Designer” means a natural person or group of persons who jointly design the appearance or shape of any product;
10. “Division of application” means the division of a single application for registration of an industrial design into two or more applications by the applicant, whereby each divided application must relate to the industrial design contained in the original application;
11. “Right holder or owner of the right” means a natural person, legal entity or organization that has a legal right to an industrial design, or an assignee or successor in interest of such person;
12. “Power of attorney” means a written document by which the right holder or owner of the right grants his/her right to one or more persons to perform duties on his/her behalf;
13. “Principal” means the right holder or owner of the right of an industrial design who grants his/her right to one or more persons to perform duties on his/her behalf in filing an application for registration of an industrial design or carrying out other proceedings with the Provincial, Capital Department of Industry and Commerce and the Department of Intellectual Property;
14. “Representative” means a natural person or lawyer appointed by the owner of the design who has an address in the Lao PDR, or an agent authorized by the owner of the design from abroad who does not have an address in the Lao PDR, for filing an application for registration of an industrial design or carrying out other proceedings;
15. “Priority” means the date on which the applicant filed an application for registration of an industrial design at another office related to intellectual property abroad or in the Lao PDR, which has prior effect.
