Order
On the cessation of alluvial gold mining within Attapeu Province.
- Pursuant to the Law on Local Administration (Amended) No. 68/NA, dated 14 December 2015
Chapter 1, Article 20 on the rights and duties of the Governor and Mayor.
- Pursuant to the Law on Minerals (Amended) No. 31/NA, dated 3 November 2017.
- Pursuant to the Resolution of the 10th Meeting of the 10th Provincial Party Executive Committee.
The Governor issues the order:
1. Cease all activities related to alluvial gold mining, as per the notification of the Office.
Office of the Prime Minister, No. 642/PMO, dated 20 April 2023, until further notice from higher authorities;
2. Prohibit individuals, legal entities, and organizations from conducting placer gold mining activities in rivers and streams throughout Attapeu Province without permission from the Government of the Lao PDR and the Attapeu Provincial Administration; in case of violation, strict measures shall be taken against the offenders on a case-by-case basis;
3. Assign the Provincial Department of Energy and Mines as the focal point to coordinate with the Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the administrations of the 5 districts, and relevant parties to inspect, educate, stop, and take decisive measures against offenders in accordance with laws and regulations.
4. Regarding the behavior of some people who violate the principles of mineral work, assign the provincial People's Council, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry, the district, and relevant sectors to jointly coordinate and resolve, and allocate stable occupations to the people in accordance with the specific location and natural characteristics of that locality, in order to prevent people from moving to illegally exploit mineral resources.
5. This order is effective and applicable from the date of signature onward; any previous agreements and orders that contradict the content of this order are all repealed.
