Article 1 Objective
This Decree defines principles, regulations and measures concerning the operations of representative offices for national economic development in order to make the implementation of such work efficient and effective, aiming to ensure the implementation of foreign policy and enhance the economic integration of the Lao PDR with the international community, contributing to the protection and development of the nation.

Article 2 Activities of the Representative Office for National Economic Development
The activities of the Representative Office for national economic development are the utilization of the potential in organization, location and role of the Representative Office as an official representative body for the Lao PDR in relations with the host country and/or international organizations.

Article 3 Interpretation of Terms
The terms used in this Decree have the following meanings:
1. Representative Office means the representative office of the Lao People's Democratic Republic accredited to foreign countries, which is an official representative body for the Lao People's Democratic Republic abroad in relations with the receiving state and/or international organizations, including embassies, consulates general, consulates, permanent missions, and other named offices;
2. Receiving State means the country where the representative office has its premises and other countries for which the representative office is responsible;
3. International Organization means an intergovernmental organization;
4. International Law means the principles and rules stipulated in treaties to which the Lao People's Democratic Republic is a party, including international customary law governing international relations.
