Article 1
Article 1. Purpose
This Law stipulates principles, regulations, and measures regarding the management, use, protection, preservation, renovation, and restoration of national heritage, in order to preserve the value of the nation's cultural, historical, and natural heritage, aiming to educate and cultivate citizens with patriotic spirit, cherish the fine traditions of the nation, as a factor ensuring the eternal existence of the Lao multi-ethnic people, capable of integrating with the region and internationally, and contributing to the national socio-economic development.
Article 2
Article 2 (Amended). National Heritage
National heritage refers to products created by humans or things formed by nature, possessing sublime value in cultural, historical, and natural aspects, being precious assets, and being the common property of the Lao national community existing both domestically and abroad.
National heritage includes heritage in cultural, historical, and natural aspects, which may be tangible or intangible, movable or immovable property, living or non-living, and all that can bear witness to the origins of the Lao nation and the Lao people in each era and period.
