Article 1

Purpose. This Agreement stipulates the principles, regulations, and measures concerning the control, business conduct, and management responsibilities of antimicrobial products for animals and aquatic animals, aiming to ensure correct and rational use of medications, to reduce the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria, and to enhance the health and safety of animals, aquatic animals, and consumers.

Article 2

Antimicrobial Drugs for Animals and Aquatic Animals. Antimicrobial drugs for animals and aquatic animals (Antimicrobials) refer to drugs derived from biological sources or produced by chemical synthesis that have the effect of inhibiting the growth of or killing microorganisms (pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi).

Article 3

Definition of Terms. The terms used in this Agreement shall have the following meanings: 1. Antimicrobial-resistant microorganism refers to a strain (bacteria, virus, parasite, or fungus) that can grow or survive even when exposed to a sufficient concentration of an antimicrobial drug that would normally inhibit, prevent growth, or kill it; 2. Acceptable Daily Intake refers to the amount of an antimicrobial drug that can be safely used per day when introduced into animals and aquatic animals; 3. Maximum Residue Limit refers to the highest allowable drug residue level in products from animals and aquatic animals that does not adversely affect the health of humans, animals, or aquatic animals; 4. Withdrawal Period refers to the minimum time from the date of drug cessation to the date when the animal is slaughtered for consumption; 5. Side Effect refers to an unintended effect or symptom resulting from the use of a drug.
